Creating video from text – Open AI’ Sora

Open AI just dropped Sora, a text-to-video AI.
It’s a big deal!
Here’s what you need to know.
Imagine you’re in a world where you can type out a scene you’d like to see, and a computer can bring it to life in a video.
That’s what OpenAI, the same folks who made ChatGPT, have done with their new creation, Sora.
Just like you’d ask ChatGPT to write a story or Dall-E to draw a picture, you tell Sora what you want to see in a video, and it makes it happen.
This could be something simple like a woman walking through a city, or something more complex like a scene from the goldrush era in the US. And the videos look almost like real life!
OpenAI’s Sora is a big leap forward in making videos with computers.
Before, some tools could add text or effects to videos, but making a whole animated video from scratch was harder.
Sora changes that. It can make videos that are up to a minute long, making objects move in ways that seem real.
If something moves off-screen, Sora remembers it, so when it comes back, it looks right.
This tech isn’t perfect yet—sometimes things might move in ways that don’t make sense in the real world, but it’s still pretty amazing.
Sora works by starting with a bunch of random patterns, or “noise,” and then gradually shapes these into a video that matches what you asked for.
It understands how things in the real world interact—like how water would splash or how a ball would roll and bounce. To do this, it learns from lots of video footage of the real world.
But with great power comes great responsibility. Making realistic videos so easily can be used for not-so-good purposes, like scams or spreading fake news.
OpenAI is aware of this and is working on ways to keep things safe, but it’s a big challenge.
In simple terms, Sora is like a magic video-making tool that’s pushing us into a future where creating videos is as easy as typing out a sentence.
It’s exciting, but we also have to be careful about how we use this new power.
